And so;

I haven't updated in a while but besides all that, i've been watching some discussion boards that pertain to interracial marriage, sex, love you name it i've read it. What's surprising to me is after so many years, people are still calling it interracial, that term in itself is [arguably], pretty damn racist. I've taken a liking to reading up on this because it's intriguing to see where people go with it and to see into the human mind, how we operate and react to things we like, dislike or have never seen. Most people have seen a 'mixed' couple right? [even that term sounds racist but w/e] and there's nothing wrong with it from most people's points of views but if i were to say i don't question what got the two together in the first place i'd be lying. I do feel as if that is bad but it's worse when people stare at you and question what your doing because your not with your "own kind". Really people? Come on. Honestly why does it make people so uncomfortable to see a mixed couple? Why do people feel the need to go up to a couple and say rude things like "your baby's ganna be a half breed" or "your sinning and God hates you now". God made all of us different for a reason, if not for love then for what?

I recently stumbled upon a female named Ruthlyn on youtube, she blogs and makes videos' about interracial relationships and her own. Her view is actually pretty interesting and i love how she responds half the time she's just great to watch and learn from and she happens to be a black female in a 'mixed' relationship, with dun da da daaaaaaa white man, who happens to be pretty damn attractive. Besides her amazing video's she challenges people, and we need to be challenged , why can't we all get along and just accept people's loves for whom ever? Why hate a gay person cause they're gay, does being gay define them? Come on now people! Why hate a mixed couple because they're mixed? That doesn't define them either! Why are people so judgmental? Everyone has seen a mixed couple and thought "humm he probably pipes real good that's why she's with him cause its clear he has no money", and i'm sure after reading that sentence half of you thought of a mixed couple that fit this, and i'm sure if you dive deep into the couple you concocted, that falls under racism. But i digress, is love so messed up by the media and others around us we'd rather hurt ourself and suffer through the crap with someone else who our family, friends or society feels is right for us? Tons of shows and movies are based on this notion, take one of my favorites, Something New. A movie about a successful black woman who falls for a successful white male, she ends up leaving him half way through their romance because of the pressure she gets from her "girls" [which is a whole 'nother post entirely lol] and she goes out with this, at least to me, creepy shady black guy to appeal to the ones watching. Come on now! In the end she goes back to him but still, can you believe that? I think quite frankly that's a bit much yet it happens everyday. Someone sacrifices their love because of the views, snickers, glares, and vocalized disapproval of society, their family and or their friends. You'd think that this would have stop by now but no, it's alive and strong. People still get called 'Nigger-lovers' if they're with a black person, we're far too narrow minded as a society.

Why did i bring this up? Because i had a dream last night, not Martin's dream but my own, that i'd be married to a white male, i knew exactly how he'd look and i'll be the first to say, i'm almost positive if that really happened, then my family would react just as it was in the dream. In my dream i brought him to my mother's, who was very receptive of him, my brothers not so much, though they didn't vocalize it, it was obvious, my sister she was happy but there was silent discontent, my uncle he just couldn't even fathom i wasn't marrying into our race, and my aunt's they were a trip, they loved him after getting to know him, and they are the type to talk about the "interracialness" of it once or twice and leave it alone. So it was odd, i was happy by it all but one of my cousin's he was a bit like "nah i don't really want her with no white dude" and if your in my family i'm sure you know who that would be but anyway lol. The judgement people have to stop or a number of people will fail to be happy, and their family and friends may notice and feel a tad bit possibly sorry but society won't and they'll continue marching on as if life's this perfect bed sans wrinkles in it. Via love! Via mixed couples! Via pride in loving who you love!!!!!!!!

And who cares about what everyone else feels about them if it's based on color, you love who you love and don't you regret it.

  1. The term "interracial"=racist? That can't be right....and I'm definitely the cousin you speak of lol...nah but I don't care who you fall in love with, just as long as you don't become dependent on him for things you can do yourself.
